Launch Of 90’s Flashback
Christmas Reunion Party // Review
After the success of 80’s Flashback over the last 16 years, Missile Promotion Team decided to give it a break leaving it on a high and launching 90’s Flashback the clubbing era, at The Curve Bar Ipswich. Bringing a different flavour over the festive season.
They say in life you have to keep on moving forward otherwise you will get left behind. Here at Missile HQ, we like to move with the times while still honouring the past, after all, it’s the past that determines the future.
Warming up the night was Missile’s very own Skippa J & Dj Echo keeping it simple making all the early ravers feel welcomed. At 11.30pm Icr radio presenter, Dj Breeze took it to another level with some classic 90’s Hip-Hop & New Jack Swing getting the crowd bouncing.
Dj Stranja the DJ with the golden mix touchdown for his first DJ set at midnight with some sexy sweet RnB songs which defiantly got everyone dancing and singing. At 12.30am Ipswich top garage DJ from Icr 105.7fm Dj Natch & Mc Polo took to the stage and raised the barrier with some classic old skool garage.
By this time the dance floor was absolutely full, people were partying hard, blowing their whistles and really having a great time. Missile Sound system was sounded crisp, the baseline was round. It was a lovely Christmas atmosphere.
A 30min old skool garage set was just about right, not too short or too long and after a storm, they must be calm? Which is why Dj Stranja came in to play his second dj set straight after Dj Natch. Dj Stranja took us deep down into memory lane with some sexy RnB slow jam’s, such as R Kelly ‘Bump & Grind which really caught everyone’s attention.
Dj Echo all the way from the ghetto, one of the main urban DJ’s in Ipswich back in the 90’s and who is still very active in the town played from 1.30/2am with a mix of Hip-Hop, RnB & Garage and with his unique mic talking skills kept the dance floor bubbling.
Now it was time for Ipswich very own top dancehall ‘Dj’ entertainer Skippa J from Missile Sound to turn up the heat even more…. The large crowd had been waiting all night to hear some old skool dancehall bashment and he didn’t let them down.
Skippa J went straight onto the stage and introduce himself thanking everyone for coming out and wishing them all a Merry Christmas before dropping the Bam Bam Riddim to start his crazy dancehall segment.
With so many dancehall queens in the place especially at the front of the stage, it made Skippa J’s job a lot easier. Playing all the 90’s dancehall classic ft artist such as Red Rat, Beenie Man, Baby Cham & more, we even had time rewinding back to the Bogel days… Ting A Ling Ling ‘Shabba Rank’.
It was deficiently the right decision and time to launch 90’s Flashback. The Dj line-up and time schedule was spot on. The turnout was fantastic. There wasn’t any trouble, good behaviour all round and Missile Sound System sounded nice & clean.
Manny thanks to Music Bubble & Black Steel Tv for videoing the event and do the interviews. Also Worrier Security for providing the security on the night.
The full Missile Family for working hard on the night and behind the seen to make this event so successful. Respect to Fred the owner of The Curve Bar Ipswich for letting us host our events at his venue.
